Anzalone Back at Practice: Lions Bolster Defense for Cardinals Clash
Great news hit the Detroit Lions camp as linebacker Alex Anzalone made his way back to practice. He’s been on the sidelines, nursing a concussion he picked up during the Week 2 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His return is definitely a boost for the Lions’ defense as they gear up for their next challenge against the Arizona Cardinals.
Injuries Still a Concern
However, the team isn’t completely out of the woods. Rookie cornerback Terrion Arnold is still down with an illness. Ennis Rakestraw, dealing with a hamstring issue, and Ifeatu Melifonwu, with an ankle problem, are also still off the field. The Lions really need these guys back as they approach this critical juncture in the season.
Offensive Line Gets a Lift
On a brighter note, Graham Glasgow is back in action. The offensive lineman had been recovering from a knee injury and his return is a huge plus for the team. Every piece matters as the Lions strive to be at full strength.
Coach Glenn Shows Confidence
Defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn isn’t worried, though. He’s been vocal about his faith in the linebacker corps, saying, “I’ve said this all along. I have plenty of trust in that linebacker room.” He gave special mention to Jack Campbell and Malcolm Rodriguez, reiterating that the team is in good hands, even with some leaders out. “Jack has done a good job for us… so I have no issue with that,” Glenn stated.
Eyes on the Prize
Sure, having Anzalone back is great, but the Lions know they need everyone to step up their game. With several players still struggling with injuries, how the team adapts will be crucial. Their upcoming game against the Cardinals is a make-or-break moment this season.
