The Detroit Lions have announced the waiver of cornerback Morice Norris due to a hamstring injury. This move comes as the team grapples with injuries within its defensive backfield during training camp.

Norris Waived Amid Secondary Injury Woes

Norris has missed several practices because of his injury, and the Lions are now particularly thin in the secondary after losing Emmanuel Moseley to a torn pectoral muscle. Additionally, cornerbacks Terrion Arnold and Ennis Rakestraw left Monday’s practice with injuries but reportedly avoided major issues.

Detroit Lions Sign Javelin Guidry to Strengthen Secondary

In response, the Lions have signed cornerback Javelin Guidry to bolster their defensive depth. Guidry, who is 5-foot-9 and weighs 191 pounds, has played for five teams since going undrafted in 2020. He has appeared in 32 games and made five starts in his career, but has not played since 2022 due to a season-ending knee injury. His versatility allows him to fill either an outside or nickel cornerback role.

Guidry Likely to Play in Upcoming Preseason Game

The Detroit Lions added Guidry shortly after signing veteran nickelback Essang Bassey. Given the current state of injuries, it is likely Guidry will see action in the upcoming preseason game against the Kansas City Chiefs on Saturday.
