Holly Campbell’s Four-Word Take on Night Games Says What Every Lions Fan Feels Before Mahomes Showdown

Dan Campbell’s Wife Has Four-Word Truth About Lions-Chiefs Primetime Clash

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell may thrive under the Sunday night lights, but his wife, Holly Campbell, is less than thrilled about the late kickoff. Her four-word Instagram story summed it up perfectly ahead of the Lions’ Week 6 meeting with the Kansas City Chiefs: “I hate night games.”

The Lions enter the primetime showdown with a 4-1 record, leading the NFC North and boasting the league’s top scoring offense. The matchup at Arrowhead Stadium has every ingredient for fireworks: Patrick Mahomes, a banged-up Lions secondary, and two heavyweights fighting for early-season supremacy.

But while Dan Campbell has been breaking down Mahomes film and talking disguises (“He can smell a rat from a mile away,” Campbell joked earlier this week), Holly’s just trying to survive another long Sunday.

She’s been a staple at Lions games—home and away—often cheering alongside other players’ families. Last week in Cincinnati, she posted a celebratory message after Detroit’s 37-24 win: “We came, we saw, we conquered!! The 2025 Lion’s Ladies and one Dude Road Trip is in the books!! Thank you Cincinnati for the best time and the W 💙👊🏻.”

For Week 6, though, the energy’s different. Primetime means late nights, nerves, and watching her husband face one of football’s most dangerous offenses under the national spotlight. While Lions fans will be dialed in, Holly might be wishing for more noon kickoffs and fewer post-midnight stress tests.

Detroit’s rise under Campbell has brought national attention and national TV games, the price of success in today’s NFL. And as any Lions fan can relate, sometimes excitement comes with exhaustion.

So when Holly Campbell says, “I hate night games,” she’s basically speaking for every fan pacing their living room after 11 p.m., waiting to see if the Lions hold the lead.
