Jared Goff Has Strong Favorite in Michigan-Michigan State Rivalry
Jared Goff of the Detroit Lions has declared his allegiance to the fierce Michigan-Michigan State college football rivalry. On the August 9 episode of the “Bussin’ with the Boys” podcast, hosted by Will Compton and Taylor Lewan, Goff made it clear which side he’s on. When asked, “Who do you side with, Michigan or Michigan State?” Goff didn’t hesitate.
“Michigan, Michigan. And not just because you’re sitting here,” he said, addressing Lewan, a former University of Michigan player. “It’s just because where I live and nearby here, it’s a lot of Michigan alum. And so, I really don’t know many Michigan State alum personally.”
On Getting Traded from the Rams to the Lions
Goff also delved into his trade from the Los Angeles Rams to the Detroit Lions during the podcast. Reflecting on the shift, he spoke candidly about how the experience changed his outlook. “I think when I was younger, it was like, ‘Oh, they love me. We signed the extension. Here we go. We’re going to be together for 15 years,’ and everyone thinks that, right?” he said. “And eventually, that changes, and I think it’s a lot of my perspective to be much better on what it is.”
Looking forward to the new season, the Detroit Lions are set to kick off their 2024 regular season on Sunday, September 8, at Ford Field against the Rams. As Goff continues to embrace his role in Detroit, his favorite in the local college football rivalry further embeds him in the fabric of the Mitten state.
